I'm Back!

Sorry for being so absent, but I have been quite busy during this past month or so. Hopefully I will be able to start keeping up with bollynews more now. So much has happened during these summer months from film reviews all the way brand new fall promos. I can't wait to get back into the swing of tinsel town and I am still going to post my reviews for Kambakkht Ishq, Love Aaj Kal and Kaminey despite the lateness.

This looks pretty good from just the poster and the jodi, butttttttttttttttt the song is horrible in this teaser.

Dil Bole Hadippa Promo

This looks really good! Shahid looks at his finest, he has slimmed down by getting rid of all that muscle he had in Kismat Konnection finally and looks fab! and Rani looks amazing! Bunty Aur Babli status! I seriously can't wait, this looks like a very good film.

First Look at 'Dil Bole Hadippa!'

Yes, its finally here. The Rani/Shahid starer is out with its first promotions. The trailer will be shown with at screenings of New York starting friday. Looks really good! Rani goes all out! It's a romantic comedy between the two of them and is set to be released on September 18th.

Love Aaj Kal 'Twist' Promo

Here is the latest Love Aaj Kal song promo and it's rockin! I absolutely love everything Pritam does. This song is great and I have to say I like it more than any of the songs from Kambakkht Ishq other than Bebo! I think that is Saif's voice in the beginning and some old Lata Mangshkar songs are sampled in the song.

This song has got to be the best of the summer! Its so dancy and fun and I can't stop listening to it! This video looks very similar to Kareena's item song in Don 'Yeh Mera Dil'.

This looks interesting, I am very curious to see how the Saif and Deepika jodi works out! It comes out on July 31st.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

The first Ranbir-Katrina pairing has a release date! As of now, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is supposed to be out on July 10th along with Kambakkht Ishq. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, it's a romantic comedy that is set in Mumbai, Goa and Turkey! I seriously cannot wait for this film, I think the Ranbir-Katrina chemistry is going to be amazing!

More Love Aaj Kal Stills

FINALLY! There has been a release date assigned to Love Aaj Kal, its hitting theaters on the 31st of July! Kambakkht Ishq has also come out with a release date, the 10th of July. Main Aur Mrs.Khanna is set for the 3rd of July. So, we finally have some music launches to look forward to and some films in the next month or two.

Looking forward to this yet? Well I am! This is going to be a summer hit definitely! Starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor as a married couple in Australia with lots of problems. Sounds amazing! I just hope the theaters and distributers find some resolution quick so we can start seeing all of these summer blockbusters.

Pyaar Impossible! is Yash Raj's latest venture. Written by and starred in by Uday Chopra, lets just say that he's not the greatest actor..., and Miss Priyanka Chopra stars opposite Uday. I guess its about the nerd trying to get the hottest girl, making it Pyaar Impossible! This poster was released but the filming has just started, so it won't be out for a while.

Update!

I guess the reason we have not been getting our daily dose of Bollywood of late is because of problems between distributors and theaters. The debate over movie showing rights is still going strong in India and therefore holding up the showing of summer releases. I hope this ends soon because that would be a horrible summer without Bollywood! Theaters are being forced to show random old films to keep their clientele coming, and I don't think there will be any budging from the distributors.

Kambakkht Ishq Problems

So, I really have no idea what is going on at Eros Entertainment because they promised us Kambakkht Ishq at the end of May, and now June is upon us and we haven't even gotten a simple music launch out of them. I am worried that there has been some other problems that they are not releasing, and they are expecting us to take it unnoticed. I have researched a little and come up with the idea that the film will not be releasing until mid August because on IMDB they actually have that as the date of release. There is nothing for certain on the Eros website, so we will be waiting patiently for updates.

First Look at Love Aaj Kal

This is the first look we have gotten of Love Aaj Kal starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. Although this is a commercial for IPL, it is the first time we have seem them in character and gotten a glimpse of some film footage. Love Aaj Kal comes out the 26th of June.

Action Replay

Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar are starring together in Vipul Amrutlal Shah's latest film: Action Replay. This is the first of Ash working with Vipul, but not the first for Akshay. Akshay has starred in many of his films including Singh Is Kinng, Namastey London and Waqt: A Race Against Time. Vipul has finished up working on London Dreams starring Salman Khan and Bollywood newcomer Asin and has started filming Action Replay. I guess its about an old man who goes back in time to his glory days in the 1970's. These are the latest stills from the sets of Action Replay with Ash and Akki!

Well, here is the trailer that was shown at Cannes for Kites. I am not to impressed with the looks of it...lets hope its better than just a bunch of car chases.

FINALLY SOMETHING ABOUT KITES!!! It seems like we have been hearing about 'Kites' forever, but have never seen anything from it! But now thanks to its promo showing at Cannes, new stills have come out. Its starring Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, the mexican model who is a newcomer to bollywood. This film is set all around the southwest United States and India.

Aishwarya Rai and hubby Abhishek Bachchan are in Cannes this week for the international film festival. Ash is there for L'Oreal Paris as a brand ambassador. Both 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Kambakkht Ishq' are going to be shown at the festival.

Finally a new Ranbir Kapoor film!!! Its been a long wait since Bachna Ae Haseeno, but Rocket Singh is going to hit theaters this December. Ranbir plays a salesman in these hard economic times. Yash Raj is releasing it. It looks good!!

Do you know what time it is??? Bollywood is back on during May! Its been an awful two months hiatus that our favorite industry seems to have taken. But thankfully May brings it all back to us starting with Kambakkht Ishq on the 31st! I can't believe it's almost summer, and can't wait for the movies to start pouring in during those long summer months! Happy May everyone!

Katrina Kaif Barbie

With Katrina Kaif nudging Aishwariya Rai out of the running to become the newest Barbie, we can look forward to getting our own miniature Katrina Kaif in September. The Kaif Barbie will hit shelves in India in September. She debuted as the Barbie model at 10th annual Lakme Fashion week Barbie fashion show a couple of weeks ago.

More Updates!

Okay there is going to be a boom of Bollywood this summer. After this lull in the Bollywood openings this March and April thanks to the IPL season, there are going to be some mega productions released. The newest film that has a release date is Love Aaj Kal, with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, directed by Imtiaz Ali and it comes out on the 26th of June. Also, Salman Khan's latest after Main Aur Mrs. Khanna will be London Dreams, costarring Asin and that comes out the 14th of August. 

Kambakkht Ishq in France!

Eros International is pushing BIG TIME to get the Bollywood of the summer, Kambakkht Ishq, to be shown at Cannes! Imagine Kareena and Akshay on the Cannes Carpet! And I wonder if Sonam will be there instead of Aishwariya for Loreal? We seriously cannot wait for this film to come out! Or at least the music launch to happen sometimes soon!!! Heres some more stills of the film.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Abhishek and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan are celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary. Married on April 20th, 2007. The happy couple is vacationing in Miami due to their set back with Raavan because of the director, Mani Ratnam's heart-attack. Badhaayeeyaan!!!! 

Could this be true?!

I was recently looking up Milenge Milenge desperately trying to see when this much awaited film will be released and........IT WILL BE RELEASED THIS JUNE!!!!! FINALLY! The final Shahid/Kareena love story that we know of. It was filmed in 2004 but was postponed due to their breakup post Jab We Met. Now lets just hope this is really going to happen. They both look so young and beautiful! Also, Kambakkht Ishq is out the 28th of May, Kaminey is out the 26th of June, Main Aur Mrs. Khanna is out the 31st of July, Blue is out the 14th of August, What's Your Raashee is out the 18th of September, and 3 Idiots is out the 25 of December. So there is a lot to look forward to in the next couple of months.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I have been off exploring the world on my vacation and I won't be back until next week! :( But I do have a few updates: Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahaani will be out on July 10th starring Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor. Rajneeti will be out on the 22nd of January, 2010 starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif again! Wake Up Sid will be out on October 2nd starring Ranbir Kapoor and I think Konkona Sen Sharma. Hope to be back up soon!

Kambakkht Ishq Promo!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY this looks so good yaar!!! It looks very similar to Hum Tum just way more glamorous. But that narrator voice is horrible. Can't wait! It comes out May 29th. So supposedly Kambakkht Ishq got an A rating and so the promos are not allowed to be shown on television in India! I guess Bebo calls Akshay a dog and he turns around and calls her a bitch! Soo not too good for the promotion of the film, but I think it looks really good!

What's Your Rashee?

Here is the latest 'What's Your Raashee' poster. The film comes out in September and it's Harman Baweja's second film and is also starring Pryianka Chopra opposite him again. I think this looks really good! Not only do I love astrology, but I love a good love story!! It should also be interestesting because it was filmed during and after Piggy Chops and Harman's break up... The drama.

Kylie Minogue in Mumbai!!

She is recording and acting in an item number for the latest multi-star flick 'Blue'. We are SOOO EXCITED because not only is Kylie Minogue way better than any other pop star, but she is collaborating with the greatest industry, BOLLYWOOD! YAYYYY! Have a dekho at the latest poster for Blue featuring her and Akshay Kumar. The film stars Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan. It's a thriller set in fabulous locations in the Caribbean.

Delhi 6 Review

Cast:

Summary:
Roshan is a young NRI who has never been to India, but his grandmother's soul is still in Chandni Chowk. She gets cancer and has little time to live and insists on going back to her heart, Delhi. Roshan agrees to go with her, and he is immediately taken with the energy and care that everyone has. He spends time getting to know all of his grandmother's friends and neighbors and falls in love with the young Bittu, a girl aspiring to be on Indian Idol. There had been attacks from an unknown person disguised as a kalaa bandar (black monkey) and soon the paranoia goes to new heights. Everything becomes about religion and how Hindus are against Muslims and Muslims are against Hindus. Neighbors and friends start turing against each other and eventually everyone's pent up anger is expressed on the mixed "foreigner" Roshan because he is both Hindi and Muslim.

Review:
This film was basically about the inside of Delhi, and was more a study of it's culture rather than of specific characters and their problems. But rather it was about the culture's problems and the way they have to fix those problems as a society together. Now, I walked into the theater expecting a very good masala film all about Roshan and Bittu's love, but instead I was surprised by this cultural study that I found rather depressing. I think it did a really good job expressing how irrational people become when they are scared. It really showed the deep insecurities in India and how even though people know what they are doing is wrong, they still do it because society has said to do so and done so for so long. I enjoyed this film a lot, but honestly I wish there was more Sonam and Abhishek in it! I think Sonam was really at her best! Bittu was definatly the best character in the film because she seemed so really and I have to say I think she has improved since Saawariya. I would recommend this film if you are not expecting to come away with a good feeling. I came away with a kind of disgusted feeling about how strange society has become and is, and how juvenile and stupid people are. But I still liked it and I think anyone would.

Songs:
I really enjoyed all of the music from this film! I think my favorites are the title track 'Delhi 6' and 'Masakali'. They are not your typical bollywood songs, but this film is not your typical bollywood film!

Summary:

A small town barber, Billu, is in the dumps because of a new barbershop down the avenue that is much fancier than his. He has lost all of his customers, and all he has left is his wife(Dutta) and his two children. Billu is trying all the things in the world to make some money to support his family. Suddenly the biggest superstar in India needs to make a film in a small ruel town, and he chooses Billu's town to film in. The town goes crazy! Everyone wants a piece of Sahir Khan while he is in town, and a rumor has been spread that Billu knows Sahir very well, and he's like a brother to Sahir. Billu becomes a local celebrity, and everyone wants the connection to their hero. Billu is a very humble person and gets very bothered when he is pushed around by the townspeople. And he is forced to make promises to get Sahir to see people, and we don't even know if he really does know Sahir at all. If Billu really does know Sahir then all of his problems will be solved, but if he doesn't know Sahir he will become the laughing stock of the town. Its up to kismet to see if they really do know eachother...

Review:

I really enjoyed this film! I thought each character was so nice and they all really seemed like genuine people. You connected with Billu because of his humbleness and you really felt what he was going though, and Sahir seemed like such a real celebrity. He wasn't a hero on and off the sets, he was a normal person who really thought it was strange having so many people literally die to meet him. Even though it was a very simple story, I thought Priyadarshan really turned it into a sweet and touching film. When I walked into the film, I was expecting the worst.As a director, Priyadarshan seems to make more silly films and honestly I don't really enjoy them. I was expecting the whole film to be about Rajpal Yadav and his slapstick acting, but it wasn't! I have to say that the COMPLETE highlight of this film were the item numbers!!!!!!! Deepika, Priyanka and Kareena were so amazing and the sets and clothes for the songs were mindblowing. I would definently recomend seeing this film in theaters because its a really fun film, and very sweet.

Music:

HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE THIS MUSIC! Most of the songs were absolutely amazing! The best being Marjaani, Love Mera Hit Hit, and You Get Me Rockin and Reelin. Marjaani was a Moraccan themed set with Kareena Kapoor and SRK, Love Mera Hit Hit was a futuristic set with Deepika Padukone and SRK, and You Get Me Rockin and Reeling was with Priyanka Chopra and SRK on a stylish house(?) set. I don't really know how to describe that one. You can see all of these music videos on a previous post 'Billu Barber Song Promos'.

Main Aur Mrs. Khanna

Finally some news on this!!! Main aur Mrs. Khanna is set to come out on June 12th, 2009. It stars Kareena Kapoor as a restless housewife in Sydney married to Salman Khan. She starts to have an affair with Sohail Khan. This looks sooooo good! We hope it will be good, because there has not been a very good Kareena film since Jab We Met! Its said that she is supposed to have gained some weight for the role, to look like a wealthy housewife. On another Kareena Kapoor note, it seems that she has bagged a lead in Race 2, the sequel to the 2008 film, Race. She will be opposite Saif Ali Khan, and Bipasha Basu will probs not be in the project.

Billu Barber review will be out by the end of this week.

Another Name Change for Billu Barber!

Goodness! This film has had so many name changes. The latest is that it is not longer 'Billu Barber' but now just 'Billu'. I guess the haircutters of India didn't appreciate being called barbers and they complained to Red Chillies. Shah Rukh stated that he was in no mood to fight with people, and so he let them have their way. “I had a discussion with the association of hair dressers and salons in Maharashtra. And I’ve pokes to the associations in other cities on the phone. I don’t think we were wrong in ever using the word ‘barber’ and that is what be stand by. But they have their own take on that. The film has been made with a good feeling. So, I’d rather not hurt anyone, because it’s not going to affect my film...I think I’m also a little mellow since I’m going for my surgery, so I don’t want to hurt anyone." So all the new adds and posters you see will have just 'Billu' on it. It comes out this friday, the 13th.
